This is a new department and departure for the College. Mr Colin Blake who helped design the centre layout and install the equipment has sadly completed his contract and left Brunei. His experience will be greatly missed.

The department has a suite of PC’s most of which are networked. This will allow approximately 15 students to work on projects at any one time. The PC’s are also linked to one of 2 printers. At this time the department is attempting to build up resources, both software and hardware, to allow the department to meet future ICT requirements of the college.

The initial purpose of the department is to help facilitate the development an ICT literate society as envisaged by the MOE. All initial ‘Basic’ courses will be aimed at improving the skill levels of the substantial proportion of College students with little or no computer background (presently estimated to be25% of intake). More advanced courses will be established once the initial training has been provided.

The basic course has proven to be a success thus far with students keen to learn new skills. The students being offered the course have gladly accepted this new provision even though it eats into their private study time.

The department is also actively developing a College ‘Home Page’ for the internet and it should be accessible by August. This will provide college news and information for parents and students both in Brunei and abroad. The project development will need on-going maintenance and should provide scope for interested staff and students to participate.
